The candidates must clear the basic eligibility criteria before applying for BPSC. Mentioned below are the stage-wise information about the exam for future aspirants.

BPSC Exam – Exam Pattern & Various Stages

The applicants for the BPSC examination have to qualify for the preliminary exam at first. Students who will clear the prelims will only be called for the next stage that is the mains examination. After that there will be the final interview round. In the last stage of the exam, the candidates will be evaluated based on their personality.

Important points of BPSC Exam Pattern

Here is the important point of the BPSC exam pattern- 2 hours Objective Type Offline (Pen-Paper) 900 marks (300*3) 3 hours for each paper Subjective Type Offline (Pen-Paper)

Prelims is a screening test, which is the first stage and is important for the candidates to clear. The first stage, the BPSC prelims examination, consists of one paper (General Studies). As per the exam pattern, all the questions in the Prelims examination will be of objective type. The candidates can attempt all the questions as there is no negative marking in Prelims. The second stage that is the mains examination consists of four papers. The mains examination is of 3 hours. The applicants must be physically present for the last stage that is the interview round. The aspirants can give their examination in any language – Urdu, English, Hindi Candidates must score the minimum qualifying marks to go to the next stage of the exam. As the result for prelims is announced, the candidates will have to fill the BPSC Mains Application Form separately and submit it.

Prelims Exam

The BPSC preliminary examination is objective-based. Each question carries 1 mark, and there is no negative marking. The applicants will have to answer 150 questions in total. Here are a few important points about the prelims-

The candidates must score the minimum qualifying marks, the qualifying marks are different for each category: general Category – 40%, BC – 36.5%, OBC – 34%, and Women/SC/ST/PwD – 32%. The final list for the candidates selected for the next round will be created on the number of vacancies available. After the Prelims examination result is declared, the qualified candidates have to submit the BPSC Mains exam application form.

BPSC Mains Exam

The BPSC Mains Examination is the second stage and it includes four papers and these are General Studies Paper 1, General Hindi, General Studies Paper 2, Optional Paper. The mains examination will be subjective and will be conducted in an offline mode that is pen paper based.

General Hindi (Secondary Level):

Essay – 30 marks Grammar – 30 marks Syntax – 25 marks Precis/Summary – 15 marks

BPSC Personal Interview Pattern

The final and last stage of BPSC is the interview round and the exam consists of 120 marks. The applicants who have cleared the mains exams will only be called for the interview round. The interview is held by a  Board appointed by the Commission. The finali list is made on the basis of the total marks obtained in the mains examination and interview round.
