Simplicity in life makes it even more contented and a life sans drama guarantees peace of mind and happiness. Paramhansa Yogananda, an Indian yogi and guru, said, “Be as simple as you can be; you will be astonished to see how uncomplicated and happy your life can become.” Here are a few ways on how to uncomplicate your life:
1. Simplify
There’s a saying that goes, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. This means to say that in times of distress, don’t look towards the problems that come with it instead look away and search for the solutions and opportunities it brings with it. Conquer your fear of uncertainty and loss and life will be much better without it. This is the simplest way in which you can avoid any intricate situations, if not avoid then definitely unravel.
2. Think Less and Forget About What Others Have to Say
One of the biggest problems that our generation faces is of peer pressure. We tend to follow what are friends expect us to and that in turn leads to us doing what we actually don’t want to. We much choose our friends wisely. So, as a respectable individual, we must make the choice of not following anyone or anything and not think about not being able to be accepted in any sort. Life is too short to live by someone else’s wish and we must try to follow our heart and believe in the decisions we make.
3. Ask Questions
There is a very famous saying by Socrates that goes, “The only true wisdom is in knowing that you know nothing.” The simplest way to solve any confusion is by Asking. And we will surely find an answer. Without asking nothing can be found. When in doubt we must not shy away from facing the situation and asking questions about it. Life will be much simple if everyone just stopped and asked which will create a better world with fewer doubts or confusions.
4. Explain
Someone said, “Explain your anger, don’t express it and you will immediately open the door to solutions instead of arguments.” An explanation is a key to clarity. And with explanation upfront, there is no room for any kind of confusion or a complicated situation. Explanation makes everything easily understandable and so there is nothing that is left behind except reality.
5. Don’t wish, but Want
It is very easy to ‘wish’ for something but it is very difficult to ‘want’ something with the same zeal. Asking something that we want is a very complex task. We tend to think a lot before even saying anything let alone ask. We create a hoax by imagining things that are probably aren’t supposed to happen. So we must ask boldly for the things we want because only we are the ones to do it.
6. Speak Your Mind
Speaking the mind is the most important activity which will help to keep complications away. It is often the words which you don’t say that haunt you for the longest time. Speak boldly and with intellect. Never hush your voice for someone’s comfort. Keeping quiet is equal to lying to others as well as yourself.
7. Be Easy to Talk To
Those who are easy to talk to are more sorted in their life because people come to them to talk out their problems or complaints with ease and straightforwardness. There are no dark secrets in their life and so they stay away from complications. So we must develop a quality where people can freely talk to us about their issues regarding us so that we can find a solution and stay happily free of problems.
8. Learn from The Past
Life teaches us grave lessons about anything and everything. We make a lot of mistakes throughout our life but the true meaning resides in the fact that we learn from them and never ever repeat them. We must not carry our mistakes with them instead shed them and move forward and start afresh. Success is not about where you are standing at any given point in time; it’s about how much you’ve learned and how far you’ve come to get there.
9. Eliminate The Unnecessary
We must identify the important things in life which have a meaning and value and focus only on them. Eliminate everything else that does not hold any significance because nothing is worth wasting our time. No wasted time, no fluff, no regrets. This will automatically make all situations clear because we will be obvious about our priorities and so decision making will be efficient and quick.
10. Perfection in The Imperfect
Let things stay simple and don’t fight to be perfect all the time. We must accept the fact that life is not perfect, that people are not perfect, and that we are not perfect. Smile at every chance; not because life has been easy, perfect, or exactly as we had anticipated, but because we choose to be happy and grateful for all the good things we have, and all the problems we know we don’t have. Life will look the utmost pretty at every step if we look at it with a vision of simplicity and purity. So stay imperfect and stay happy. Featured image by Scubadiverlife
